Exhibition Description:
These mixed media artworks incorporate domestic materials such as textiles, photography transfers, hand-sewn cloths and family artifacts. The quilt-like layering of these elements echoes the repetitive, emotional, and bodily work of caregiving, positioning each fragment as part of a larger narrative of repair. The imagery—rooted in familial relationships and lived environments—creates a conversation between the labor of home and the structures that often render it invisible, much like the unseen stitches that hold a quilt together.
About the Artist: Marian Lyndgaard
Marian’s multidisciplinary work examines interspecies relationships and the breaking down of boundaries between humans, animals, and the land. Through a combination of visual art and community engagement, she uses locally sourced plant and animal materials to explore ecological connections and represent personal ties to the land. Quilting and stitching are central to her practice—methods that mirror the piecing together of landscapes, memories, and species. These sewn gestures symbolize both the restoration of the prairie and the mending of fractured relationships.
