Recruited through the Boy Scouts, I refused to fight and escaped the War, but the Trauma follows like a shadow. Rooted in my true-life story and my published memoir, SUDAN FIRE / USA ICE is a journey from childhood in Sudan, through experiences of survival and displacement, to rebuilding my life in the United States. It is written not simply as a record of what happened, but as a testimony of survival, faith, and the possibility of becoming something beyond what circumstances may have expected.

At its foundation, Survive. Heal. Rise is about three things:
SURVIVE.
Acknowledge where we have been, without letting our past define our future.
HEAL.
Create space for restoration, growth, forgiveness, faith, and renewal.
RISE
Move forward with purpose and recognize that our experiences can become part of a testimony that encourages someone else.
