Exhibition Description:
We age but we never feel older, simply more self-conscious. The average person stops playing and making art at 9 years old. When does life become so rigid? Why do we stop exploring for free wills sake? Adulthood is a silly world where everyone is trying to do the right thing with this one chance we have here. We all walk with a big bag of hidden suffering, but if we don’t open the bag, is it worth carrying? Is it better to not know the bag is there and get a surprise later?
About the Artist

A Minnesota resident from the beginning, Teal’s artistic journey began at home where creativity was encouraged and celebrated. Teal was given the freedom and tools to explore her imagination from a young age, leading her to attend Hamline University where she pursued her fine arts degree with a focus in sculpture and printmaking. It was at Hamline that she found a mentor in Artist and Professor Allison Baker, who guided her beyond technique and taught her to truly think and work like an artist. Teal is now known in the area for not just her artwork but also her small business where she makes beads and creates bracelets and earrings. Teal spent a few years after college mastering polymer clay and traveling the country selling her works before settling down in the Saint Cloud area where was an art administrator at Art in motion before her current job as a high school art teacher at Rocori. In her teaching, she continues to be inspired by the unique creative processes of her students, a reflection of the creative freedom she was afforded as a child.
Her current work continues to explore the common threads of humanity, and the unique, often isolating, perspectives we bring to them in our own experiences.
