For over 25 years, Courtney Burton has been performing the jazz standards of the Great American Songbook with her jazz ensemble, Court’s In Session, since 2009, as lead vocalist of the 18-piece Beasley’s Big Band since 1996, and as a 2024 Twin Cities Jazz Festival debut artist. Courtney weaves the stories behind the songs and composers into her performances, with a distinctive style that bends traditional phrasing, unveiling new emotional dimensions as she approaches each song as a narrative journey, interpreting every note with intention. Concert programs include An Evening with Ella, Love in the Key of Jazz, and S’Wonderful: The Music of Gershwin, as well as holiday shows that consistently draw capacity audiences.
