Beyond the Basics: Sectional Pottery Workshop

Experience Level: Intermediate, some prior experience needed. Must be able to throw a basic cylinder.
Saturdays September 23-October 14, Noon-3:30pm (3 sessions total)
Ages 14+
Continue your pottery journey in this class designed to guide students through the process of combining forms, or sectional pottery, as you create a beautiful and unique lamp! Techniques explored in this class are also helpful for many other projects that are larger in size, perfect for the artist who is ready to move beyond the basics!
First bag of clay and hardware to create one lamp are included in the cost of tuition.
Materials list for Paramount Ceramics Classes
1.) Basic Pottery Tool Kit, including:
-Needle Tool
-Wire Tool (for cutting & removing pots from the wheel)
-Wooden Kidney Tool
-Trim Tool
*Tool kits may be purchased at the Paramount or local art supply stores (Baker’s, Michael’s & Crafts Direct)
2.) Plastic to cover your work (dry cleaning bags work great for this! )
3.) Item you would like to create texture with
4.) Ice cream pail for water
5.) Old towel
6.) Lock for your locker
7.) Clay: Your first bag of clay is included in the cost of tuition, but depending on the size and number of pieces you create you may need to purchase more. We have a variety to choose from, ranging in price from $12-$25 for a 25 pound bag.
