Workshop: Relief Carving Porcelain with Janel Jacobson

The Paramount Center for the Arts is honored to welcome master ceramic artist Janel Jacobson for an exciting day focused on the fine art of relief carving porcelain. Highlighting experiences from five amazing decades of ceramic exploration, Jacobson will walk us through techniques ranging from highly detailed and strikingly realistic carving to fun and whimsical designs. Demonstrations will include an overview of working with the fine particles of porcelain clay, throwing a simple lidded box, a walkthrough of her planning process, shallow relief carving to form layered multi-dimensional imagery, defining foreground, mid-ground, and background, and much more!
