A two-day class of mixed media exploration and fun!

Printing with a gel plate is a wonderful process that creates fantastic printed papers consisting of amazing colors, textures and layers. The materials we’ll use are common, easy to use and the process is sooooooo much fun! One print inspires another and before you know it, you’re swimming in a big batch of bright, juicy printed papers that bubbled from your imagination!

Day 1 will include a full exploration and learning the basics of mono printing with a gel plate. You’ll learn a huge variety of techniques using stencils, masks, found objects, texture tools, stamps and a unique collection of everyday ordinary things that are great for printing making.

You’ll experience printing with a variety of papers and even fabric! This type of mono printing really is quiet an addictive art form and the ideas start to flow once you get going.

Day 2 – Now what to do with all the gorgeous papers you printed?! Mixed media artists LOVE gel printed papers because it gives them so much materials and ideas to work with.

You’ll try your hand at card making, bookmarks, artist trading cards (ATC’s), gift bags, gift tags, embellished file folders and folded boxes just to name a few – all from your very own amazing printed and painted papers! And the mixed media adventure expands as you work with oil pastels, acrylic markers, colored pencils, metallic markers and collage.

You’re sure to go away with an arm full of artistic mixed media goodies and a smile on your face!

8” x 10” gel plate (Gelli Plate is one brand) approx. $28.00

4” soft rubber brayer (Speedball is a great brand) approx. $17.00

A nice color selection of heavy body acrylic paints (paints in the tube) (Hobby Lobby puts the Master Touch and Fine Touch brands on sale for 40% off about once a month.)

An inexpensive sketchbook, 9” x 12”. 5 Below sells them for $5.00, it’s a great bargain.

About 50 sheets of regular white copy paper.

About 10 sheets of white card stock.
