EXHIBITION DESCRIPTION

This show is a collection of pieces from five different bodies of work over seven years.  It is a meeting of techniques and phases of my creative process, showing representational and intuitive painting styles in one space.

ARTIST STATEMENT

I create out of necessity, in order to stay centered, grounded, balanced. 
To navigate more calmly through this human existence.
To tap into the spiritual, all knowing realm.
I create to answer the calling;
the raw, deep creative desire from within.
An internal to external release of life force energy.
To transmute unseen feelings and emotions into visual experiences.
The personal metamorphosis that occurs in union with the divine, the natural,
the primal; that is what drives me.
Creativity is compulsory to my existence.

ARTIST BIO

Kayla (Gustin) Boeckman is a painter & intuitive who lives & works in Central Minnesota.  She grew up in a creative family, where she drew the inspiration to become an artist & energy healer.  Kayla earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in painting from St. Cloud State University in 2007.  Since then, she has received certifications in Reiki, Integrated Energy Therapy, essential oils, intuitive painting, meditation & other creative & energetic healing modalities.

Kayla draws her main inspiration from nature & the beauty that is all around.  Her work is created by tapping into the eternal reservoir of creativity that resides within.  She accesses this vast, primal space of pure existence through meditation, breath work, prayer, & emotional release.  She sees colors & visions while in this realm & replicates the vibrations of those images & feelings once back in the physical.  She journals, dances, & sings as part of her creative process, continually tapping into spiritual & physical forms of expression; to make visual that which is generally only felt.  Her process is intuitive, tactile, visceral, meditative.

In order to allow energy to flow through her rather than be generated from her, she surrenders to the paint and trusts her intuition to guide the layout, colors and overall direction of each piece.  She releases control as she works, trusting the process rather than her conditioned mind in order to allow energy to flow through her rather than be generated from her; channeling from beyond.

She believes that we are all creative beings who have the ability to connect to the energy of artistic expression.  This is what she hopes to share with others in her Meditative Art Sessions.  During these sessions she leads a guided Chakra meditation to balance & realign, followed by explorative painting & energetic release; all without judgement of the process or expectation of outcome.
