Beyond the Basics: (Extruded) Mugs 
with Kevin Eldstrom
Experience Level: Some prior experience preferred, but beginners welcome! 
Tuesdays, March 26-April 23, 6-8:30pm (no class Apr 16, 4 sessions total )
Ages 18+ (Please contact us at dsegerstrom@paramountarts.org if you have a younger student interested in participating)

Create beautiful and unique mugs created in the handbuilding studio using an extruder! If you ever worked with modeling clay as a kid and enjoyed the shape making machine that created tubes in a variety of shapes… this class is for you! The extruder is a tool used to do the same with clay, creating a variety of shapes that you choose! Those extrusions can then be shaped and decorated in a your perfect coffee mug! Join us and create your own set of mugs, perfect for those chilly winter mornings!

Materials list for Paramount Ceramics Classes

 1.) Basic Pottery Tool Kit, including:

-Needle Tool

-Wire Tool (for cutting & removing pots from the wheel)

-Wooden Kidney Tool

-Trim Tool

*Tool kits may be purchased at the Paramount or local art supply stores (Baker’s, Michael’s & Crafts Direct)

2.) Plastic to cover your work (dry cleaning bags work great for this! )

3.) Item you would like to create texture with

4.) Ice cream pail for water

5.) Old towel

6.) Lock for your locker

7.) Clay: Your first bag of clay is included in the cost of tuition, but depending on the size and number of pieces you create you may need to purchase more. We have a variety to choose from, ranging in price from $12-$25 for a 25 pound bag.
