EXHIBITION DESCRIPTION

Contemporary minimalist paintings featuring natural landscapes.

What does minimalistic mean in art? Image result for minimalist paintings. Minimalism describes movements in various forms of art and design, especially visual art and music, where the work is set out to expose the essence, essentials or identity of a subject through eliminating all non-essential forms, features or concepts.

ARTIST STATEMENT

From the beginning process of deciding what to paint, I let inspiration guide me and pay particular attention to the feeling I want to evoke upon completion. I always paint from the inside out. Though I work quite deliberately, consciously employing both traditional and innovative techniques, my unconscious is the undisputed project manager. Pushing paint around on canvas has always thrilled me to my core, and I generally paint for my own satisfaction. Everywhere I look, I instinctively begin the composition process in my head. Not all paintings are successful, but I try to stay true to my intention and create something that transforms plain paint in to something extraordinary. I spend a lot of time outdoors – incorporating sight, sound, feeling, smell and intuitive mark making to create spontaneous and intimate paintings of place and time.
