Beyond the Basics: Plates & Platters (Set of 4)

Experience Level: Some prior experience needed, must be able to throw basic cylinders. 
Mondays, March 18-April 22, 1-3:30pm (no class Apr 8, 5 sessions total )

Explore this brand new class with professional artist, Sandy Fabian, who will share techniques on throwing larger functional  flat forms, such as plates and platters. Using the throwing skills you’ve already developed, we will help you find success in creating  a complete set of four plates, including glazing techniques that are sure to add a lot of beauty to your unique pieces and to your dinner table!

Materials list for Paramount Ceramics Classes

 1.) Basic Pottery Tool Kit, including:

-Needle Tool

-Wire Tool (for cutting & removing pots from the wheel)

-Wooden Kidney Tool

-Trim Tool

*Tool kits may be purchased at the Paramount or local art supply stores (Baker’s, Michael’s & Crafts Direct)

2.) Plastic to cover your work (dry cleaning bags work great for this! )

3.) Item you would like to create texture with

4.) Ice cream pail for water

5.) Old towel

6.) Lock for your locker

7.) Clay: Your first bag of clay is included in the cost of tuition, but depending on the size and number of pieces you create you may need to purchase more. We have a variety to choose from, ranging in price from $12-$25 for a 25 pound bag.
