Basic Quilting for Beginners PART 2!

Every Other Tuesday March 11-April 8, 6-8:30pm (3 sessions total)

Continue your exploration of the art of quilting, which is a perfect continuation of the Basic Quilting class offered in January (and for those with prior experience who are looking for a refresher!)

Fiber artist Caron Lage will walk you through the essential steps for successfully quilting new patterns. Time in between classes allows students to work on their projects at home and then return with questions! Join us! 

Students provide materials:

Please bring the following materials list for your quilting class:

 

  • Sewing machine in good working order –

Don’t forget the foot pedal, power cord, bobbins and extra needles

 

  • Rotary Cutting Equipment

Rotary cutter, cutting mat (18×24), rulers 6×24 & a square 9+ inches

 

  • Notions

Scissors, pins, seam ripper, thread to match your fabric selection, and your favorite if not listed.

 

Pattern: ARGYLE

Finished size 48” x 60”

FABRIC NEEDED

Gray 2.5 yds

Aqua 2.5 yds or, 10 fat quarters or 5 half yds

A variety of similar shades provides extra interest.

Purple 1.5 yds

Binding .5 yds

Backing 4 yds

Batting 54” x 74”

Note – Backing and batting yardages include the yardage needed to complete the quilt using the ALL BY MYSELF quilt as you go method taught in class.

Studio Practices- What to Expect While You Are Creating with Us!

The Paramount Center for the Arts welcomes all people to the Studios with the expectation of inclusion and respect towards all, including yourself, fellow students, instructors, staff and volunteers.

Instructor Prep Time: Please allow your instructor time to prepare your classroom; if you arrive more than 15 minutes earlier than the class start time, please explore one of our onsite exhibition spaces or wait in the Lobby in the Visual Arts Department.

Cleaning: Please help keep the Studios a welcoming space by cleaning up your area before departing the building.

 

Weather Closures:  In the event of severe weather, the Visual Arts Department will update the phone messages on the Information Desk (320) 257-3125, announce closures on the Paramount website homepage, and will communicate via email to any students whose class meeting time is impacted by the closure
